VOD editing software for streams that last for hours

Open a stream recording of many hours, read it as a transcript made on your own computer, and cut it down to the video worth posting. Sucia Studio is built for the long VOD: two timelines, silence taken out of every track at once, and moments found for you from the sound, your markers and the chat.

Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit, or 64-bit Linux. Sucia Studio installs and updates through the Sucia app, with a free Sucia account. 14-day free trial, no card.

Open the whole recording, from where it is

Add a recording made in Sucia Studio, in OBS, or a Twitch VOD you downloaded, and it opens from where it sits on your disk: nothing is copied and nothing is uploaded. MP4, MKV, MOV, WebM and MPEG-TS files open directly, in H.264 (or HEVC on Windows), with AAC or Opus sound. Every sound track keeps its name, so the microphone, the game and a call stay apart; switch each one on or off and choose which one is your voice.

The waveform draws while the file loads and pictures fill in along the timeline. Moved your recordings to another drive? Find them one by one, or point Studio at a folder and it finds them all by name and size.

Two timelines for a recording of many hours

The Cut page shows the whole recording on one timeline and a close-up of where you are working on the other, so the third hour is as easy to reach as the first minute. J, K and L play backward, pause and play forward, and faster playback at 2x, 4x and 8x keeps your voice at its own pitch. Mark in and out with I and O, split, and ripple delete so the gap closes behind you. Colored bands show the story, the Shorts, your picks and your search hits along the way.

Cut by transcript, made on your computer

Studio writes the transcript on your own computer, with no upload and no internet connection, and picks up where it stopped if you close the app. Search the words to find a moment, click a word to jump there, and select words or whole passages to take them out. Names and game terms from your brief are given to the transcript as hints. Studio also suggests fillers and stutters such as "uh" and "hmm" to remove, and leaves reactions such as "ha ha" alone.

Silence out, moments found

Silence removal finds the quiet stretches and takes them out of the picture and every sound track at once, with padding so words are not clipped and a minimum length so short pauses stay. You see the result before anything changes.

The Picks tab ranks the moments worth a look: loud stretches, bursts of reaction words and the markers you pressed while recording, plus chat spikes and !clip messages when Studio kept the chat beside the recording. Decide each one with a single key. The Digest lists the quiet stretches of 90 seconds or more, progress words such as a new level or a boss, the strongest line in every five minutes and the ranked moments with their quotes, and saves it all as notes.

Build the story, then deliver it

The Story tab holds four lists: the story, the Shorts, the preview and what to leave out, each checked against your brief for runtime, the number of Shorts and anything you asked to exclude. Build the main video from the story in one step: the ranges stay in the order they happened, close ones from the same chapter merge, and their edges snap to the words.

From there the Edit page adds motion, captions and color, and the Deliver page exports the video exactly as the preview shows it, checks the file afterwards, and writes SRT and WebVTT captions and YouTube chapters from the transcript. Finishing in another editor? Studio writes an EDL cut list too.

Your project is safe while you work

A project is one readable file, with its last 20 versions kept beside it and one undo step for each action. If the app or the computer crashes, the unsaved work is offered back the next time Studio opens. Recordings made in Studio are written so that a crash keeps everything up to the last second.

Questions

How long a recording can Sucia Studio edit?

Recordings of many hours. Studio reads a recording from your disk instead of loading it whole, and it was tested opening, jumping through and cutting stream recordings of more than six hours and an eight-hour, 76 GB file. A longer recording only takes longer to transcribe and to draw its waveform.

Does my VOD get uploaded anywhere?

No. Recordings open from where they are on your computer, the transcript is made on your computer, and exports are written to a folder you choose. Nothing you edit is uploaded.

Can it open OBS recordings with several audio tracks?

Yes. MKV and MP4 recordings with several sound tracks open with every track named and kept apart, so you can mute the game, keep the microphone, or set each one's level on its own.

Does it download Twitch VODs for me?

No. A Twitch VOD you have downloaded opens like any other MP4, and a recording made in Studio while you stream is already on your disk.
